During an economic downturn, the NDP passed tax hikes on job creators, created burdensome new taxes and regulations, and made Alberta a less attractive place for jobs and investment.
We promised Albertans that one of our first priorities would be to pass the Open for Business Act. This legislation stripped down onerous regulations created by the NDP and put the foundation in place for our job creators to succeed in the future.
Under the NDP, tax hikes on job creators went up 20 per cent. We’re cutting taxes on our job creators to make Alberta once again the most attractive place to invest and start a business in Canada and among the most competitive in all of North America. This policy will be a critical piece in the recovery going forward.
After scoring an F for years under the NDP, the worst grade among all provinces, we are starting to make real progress on cutting red tape on businesses to reduce costs and speed up approvals. Alberta saw its largest improvement ever for reducing red tape under the latest Canadian Federation of Independent Business report card and our work isn’t done yet!
The NDP rammed through Bill 6 without consulting farmers. We promised to repeal Bill 6 and replace it with the Farm Freedom and Safety Act (FFSA) and real consultation.
And that’s exactly what we did. Promise made. Promise kept.
