With a 30 per cent increase in the number of beds, our United Conservative government is keeping an election promise to focus not just on treatment, but changing lives with new recovery communities.
These recovery communities will lead to 400 new beds and provide a holistic approach with the goal for a patient to come out of the program, not just drug-free, but employed in school or in training.
As part of Alberta's Recovery Plan, $25 million will support the creation of 5 Recovery Communities in Alberta. This investment will add 400 treatment beds to the province, increasing our capacity by 30%! #ableg #recoveryworks pic.twitter.com/7Ljo9L87Qx

At the announcement, United Conservative MLA Jason Luan said this approach is holistic, and aims for outcomes that improve the mind, body, and spirit.
“Participants at the facility have the opportunity to relearn and re-establish social functioning, employment skills and positive community and family ties,” Luan said.
United Conservatives have already committed record amounts in mental health in Alberta.
